Summary
This position is the face of the company and often the first employee a visitor or potential new hire will meet in person. The chauffeur operates Facilities motor pool vehicles to transport employees and visitors to and from the National Life Group campus in Montpelier, to and from the airport, and to and from restaurants or events. The trips can happen any time, including early mornings, evenings and on weekends. As such, this is a full-time position with flexible hours.
This position may also help administer the program and will cover the program in the absence of the Facilities Administrator. This includes coordinating requests for rides, coordinating and scheduling part time drivers, monitoring daily status and managing last minute changes.
This position is part of the Facilities team, reporting to the Facilities Corporate Chauffeur Program Administrator and under the general direction of the Head of Security.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Facilities motor pool vehicles to transfer employees, visitors and guests to and from National Life Campus in Montpelier, to and from the Burlington or Manchester airport, and to and from restaurants or events.
- Monitor flights to ensure awareness of guest arrivals.
- Help guests with luggage as appropriate.
- May fill in to coordinate requests for rides, coordinate and schedule drivers, monitor daily status and manage last minute changes
- May be asked to be “on call” after hours and weekends for last minute changes and late arrivals. Note that “on call” hourly employees receive a stipend for being “on call”.
- Help maintain a database of who is where and when regarding travel accommodations
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent required.
- Two (2) or more years of work experience in related field.
- Must possess and maintain a clean driving record and pass a background check.
- Must have passed or be willing to take defensive driving / winter driving courses.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to act independently and as part of a team.
- Efficient time management skills required.
- Incumbents must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Knowledgeable in computer operations.
- General knowledge of word processing and spread sheet computer programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be flexible as transportation requirements change on short notice.
- Must be available to work overtime on short notice.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure is essential.
- A strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy.
