Assistant/Associate Professor in Social Work The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) College of Health Sciences invites nominations and applications for a full-time tenured/tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work. This is a 9-month appointment with potential for summer teaching. The successful applicant will be a licensed social worker (LMSW, LCSW, LCSW-S) with an academic doctorate (preferably PhD) in social work or a related field. Job responsibilities include teaching, scholarly activity (e.g., grant writing, manuscript submissions, and conference presentations), and service to the program, college, university, community, and profession. The anticipated appointment date is fall 2025. The ideal candidate will excel at incorporating active-learning strategies in teaching and have a highly productive research agenda or the potential to develop one. The successful candidate would have an interest in the cultural aspects of the border, embracing the opportunities to work with underserved groups and to collaborate on initiatives regarding border health and health disparities. Job Requirements: 1)PhD in Social Work, DSW, or earned doctorate in a closely related field (all-but-dissertation doctoral candidates who are close to completion by June 2025 will be considered); 2) an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program; 3) a minimum of three years of post-MSW experience as a practicing social worker; 4) demonstrated excellence in teaching and research in the areas of substance use disorders and/or mental health; 5) demonstrated commitment to scholarship through a record of scholarly publications, capacity for obtaining funded research, and teaching effectiveness; 6) experience working directly with people from population demographics reflective of our region; 7) Licensure or eligibility for licensure as an LMSW or LCSW; and 8) the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community stakeholders from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred candidates (1) have experience in a Hispanic Serving Institution; 2) have knowledge of and experience with CSWE accreditation guidelines; 3) are bilingual in English and Spanish; 4) have a record of service in graduate and doctoral education; and 5) understand and have a commitment to community and globally engaged scholarship. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR QUALIFICATIONS In addition to the required qualifications delineated above, minimum qualifications for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor include excellence in teaching, a history of grant funding and quality publications in refereed academic journals, and a clear contribution to the discipline.
