(Dental Dept.) in Dalton, GA<dt><h4>Job Responsibilities</h4></dt><ul><li>Applies fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay</li><li>Charts conditions of decay and disease &nbsp;for diagnosis and treatment by dentist</li><li>Checks lymph nodes under chin and neck to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate presence of oral cancer</li><li>Cleans calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums, using dental instruments</li><li>Exposes and develops x-ray film</li><li>Feels and visually examine gums, using probes, to locate sores, periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease</li><li>Make impressions for study models</li><li>Provides clinical services and health education to clients and/or staff to improve maintain oral health</li><li>Removes excess cement from coronal surfaces of teeth</li><li>May serve as a lead worker</li><li>May train subordinate staff in proper procedures of day to day operations</li></ul><dt><h4>Minimum Qualifications</h4></dt>Associate's degree in dental hygiene from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia dental hygienist license AND Two (2) years of job-related experience OR One (1) year at the lower-level Dental Hygienist 2 (HCT011) or position equivalent. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.<ul><li>Demonstrate effective use of supplies and staff labor hours.</li><li> May assist with billing log preparation and updates.</li><li>Perform duties as assigned to meet the patient care or operational needs of the clinic</li><li> Obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis as required to complete physician orders.</li><li> Complete and document monthly review of patient medication profiles.</li><li>Knowledge of and comply with applicable health care professionals practice act requirements.</li><li>Perform duties at all times under the supervision of a Charge Nurse and within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations</li><li>Maintain thorough, accurate, and appropriate documentation in the patient record of all treatments, activities, and communication with the patient, physician and other healthcare professionals to include progress reports.</li><li>Report any significant information or change in patient condition to the Charge Nurse.</li><li> Report machine problems to Biomedical Technician and Administrator.</li><li> Participate in staff meetings as required. Attend in-service and continuing education offerings in compliance with company policy and procedure.</li><li>Assist with staff training as requested.</li></ul>
