The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Oregon State Hospital (OSH) is recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician in Salem, Oregon to provide medication distribution and department support under the direct supervision of the on-site registered pharmacist.
The Oregon State Hospital provides patient-centered, psychiatric treatment for adults from throughout the state who need hospital-level care. Our primary goal is to help people recover from their illness and return to the community. What will you do?
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Provide pharmacy department support.
- Utilize automated dispensing cabinets and integrated pharmacy electronic health records to optimize the medication inventory.
- Fill, deliver, and maintain medication inventory throughout the hospital system.
- Repackage medication from bulk containers into unit dose.
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medication orders.

Special Requirements
- Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician through the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy.
Minimum Requirements
One year of training and/or experience which demonstrates knowledge in the following areas:
- Medical terminology and abbreviations.
- Pharmaceutical terms and drug names (generic and trade).
- Mathematics skills to compute dosages and rate of drug use.
- Metric system, weights, and volume.
- Principles of record keeping.
- Inventory control procedures.
- Pharmaceutical and supplies ordering procedures.
- Pharmaceutical storage and maintenance procedures.
Requested Skills
- Experience working in a large health facility or hospital.
- Experience communicating and/or interacting with behavioral health specialists, nurses and other health care professionals.
- Ability to interact with the patient population in patient care areas and other OSH buildings.
- Experience advancing health equity, addressing systemic health disparities, and collaborating with diverse, vulnerable, and underrepresented populations.
- Ability to work hours that exceed regular weekly work schedule which could include working a double or alternate shift or working in a different location that may require travel.
