Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The PT Technician IV, Stage Production is responsible for assisting with the coordination and management of all technical and operational aspects of the Performing Arts facilities (Theatre and Black Box), which includes productions for Drama and Music. The primary focus of this position is on the maintenance, setup, and operation of all performance related equipment and systems for lighting and sound.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates and oversees the technical infrastructure of the Performing Arts Center including all sound and lighting systems, intercom system, fly rigging, Scene Shop, Green Room, Dressing Rooms, Orchestra Pit, and Black Box
  • Coordinates and assists in the design and construction of drama and music program sets and scenery as needed, including management and supervision of the Scene Shop
  • Coordinates and assists in the design of lights and sound as needed by users, including focusing and setting of lights and programming of the sound and lighting control boards
  • Assures the technical readiness of the Performing Arts Center for all users for instruction, rehearsals and performances (for both internal and external use) including providing training and supervision of technical staff, production crews, and student workers
  • Assures that the equipment and systems are kept secure and in good repair as well as that all measures are taken (including enforcement of safety and security regulations) to protect the safety of students, faculty, and visitors in the Performing Arts Center
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated computer literacy with common office software, including but not limited to¿ MS Word, Excel, and databases

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related work experience in a technical theater support position, or equivalent combination of education and experience


Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $17.06
