Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The PT Graphic Designer I, Multimedia will play a pivotal role in supporting the visual identity and communication efforts of the Communications, Outreach, and Engagement Department at Lone Star College-CyFair. This position will work closely with the lead graphic designer and other team members to create and maintain high-quality design materials across various platforms.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists the lead graphic designer and videographer on campus-wide and departmental projects, such as student life, clubs, and organizations
  • Streamlines Canva templates to ensure consistency and keep them updated
  • Assists with managing incoming graphic requests in the Service Now platform to maintain a smooth workflow
  • Coordinates with the Web/Design Coordinator to ensure the execution of various digital media designs, including DMS, E-blast graphics, and the iBelong campaign
  • Assists in unifying social media platforms by incorporating the LSC system branding (stories, highlights, weekly announcements, etc.)
  • Creates visually appealing and balanced designs
  • Plans, produces, records, and edits video content to promote Lone Star College-CyFair through social media channels and other platforms as needed
  • Prepares pre-production materials such as scripts, outlines, and youtube ads
  • Develops a logo treatment plan, builds production schedules edits and finalizes video projects
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of industry-standard tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Canva
  • Knowledge of font selection, pairing, and usage for effective communication
  • Knowledge of color psychology, harmonies, and how colors impact perception
  • Skills in conveying messages effectively through visuals
  • Ability to find creative solutions to design challenges
  • Ability to ensure accuracy and quality in designs
  • Willingness to learn new design trends and techniques
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Figma (or a similar cloud-based tool)
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter) and their best practices for visual content
  • Proficiency in UX/UI design principles, with experience using Figma, Sketch, or other relevant design tools

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:  

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, printers, and scanners
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in graphic design
  • Experience in branding, logo design, and creating visually compelling print and digital assets

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in animation or motion graphics, including creating engaging videos, GIFs, or interactive elements
  • Industry experience in advertising, marketing, publishing, or related fields, demonstrating an understanding of target audiences, branding strategies, and industry trends
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $ 19.69
