Position Summary

The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for Nursing Recruitment and Retention Coordinator.

The Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions is accepting applications for a Recruitment and Retention Coordinator, Nursing. In this capacity, you will assist the Program Chairs, Assistant Dean(s) and Dean with admission and plan of study activities and instructional services for nursing programs. Responsibilities include directing a comprehensive academic, career advising and student support program for undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students, encompassing new student orientation, academic and career advising; marketing and recruitment initiatives; admissions for the College of Nursing and Health Professions (CHNP); and compliance with campus and school policies and standards.

Duties/Responsibilities 

Marketing and Recruitment:

• Collaborate with the Chief Marketing Officer and CNHP's Content Marketing Specialist to develop and oversee market research, creation, and delivery of marketing materials for the Nursing Program.
• Maintain all marketing records and files related to the RN-BSN Program.
• Assist with the development of marketing and advertising strategies for nursing. Suggest and/or implement enhanced marketing tools, including e-communication and other admission literature.
• Participate in University nursing and Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions marketing and recruiting activities. Activities may include community college visitations, college fair participation, visits to military installations, employers, etc., and personalized communication (telephone and email).
• Oversee nursing program recruiting. Collaborate with staff, campus community, and healthcare partners regarding recruitment initiatives. Represent the nursing programs in recruiting events.
• Collaborate with CNHP's Content Marketing Specialist to design and disseminate new/updated recruiting and advising resources for students, faculty, and professional staff advisors.
• Collaborate with Dean, Program Chairs, faculty, and CNHP's Content Marketing Specialist in the preparation of marketing materials and communication documents.

Student Support and Communication:

• Facilitate implementation of live student interviews.
• Monitor results of support initiatives and provide recommendations to faculty committees.
• Meet with and respond electronically to current students in the nursing programs. Communicate regularly with RN-BSN students concerning academic program requirements, registration dates, tutoring, counseling, career services, and other relevant information.
• Serve as communication liaison between the nursing program, its students, other academic departments, and external offices/departments.
• Provide support to the program Chair and faculty.
• Participate in evaluating nursing advising process improvement opportunities.

Representation and Collaboration:

• Represent nursing programs and the institution at local, state, and professional organizations.
• Participate in recruitment and advising activities for all nursing programs.

Committee Participation:

• Participate as an ad hoc member of the Undergraduate Nursing Admission and Progression Committee.
• Participate as an ad hoc member of the Undergraduate Nursing Holistic and Mentoring Committee.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to make decisions independently.

  • Ability to work with diverse populations.

  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data using the results to implement future programs, plans, and strategies.

  • Knowledge of microcomputers, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and electronic mail.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.


Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Master’s degree.

  • Experience working with a student information system (e.g., SIS or BANNER).

  • Academic advising and admissions experience.


Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements

  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours may be adjusted for program/center coverage needs. An occasional change in schedule and/or overtime may be required.
  • Irregular work hours as necessary to accommodate students and community partners during admissions interviews, registration, welcome week and orientation.
  • Travel required in the course of marketing, professional activities and professional development.
