UIW Mission


Position Summary
The School of Professional Studies invites part-time faculty candidates for Lecturer, Political Studies/Government. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching and professional activities as assigned.

This applicant pool will remain online and be used to hire interested part-time faculty as needed during the academic year beginning summer 2024. Note that part-time faculty are assigned for one term at a time.

Essential Functions
Basic Instructional Duties:
  1. Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved departmental syllabi; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive lectures.
  2. May be given the opportunity to design and update courses as needed.
  3. Prepare timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses.
  4. Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
  5. Be available outside of class to help students learn and answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or electronically).
  6. Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and procedures, including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.
  7. Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
  8. Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to deliver all instruction online.
  • Ability to effectively learn, use, and incorporate instructional technology into teaching.
  • Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening, and weekend sections as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Doctorate in Political Studies/Government, or Doctorate in another discipline with at least 18 hours in Political Studies/Government.

Required Work Experience
Experience teaching political studies/government in a college or university setting. Note that relevant training/teaching experience in other settings or significant industry experience in this field will be considered in lieu of required experience.
