Position Purpose: 

Responsible for supporting the best interests and needs of North Brunswick water by providing professional direct service to water customers in the operation and transmission & distribution functions. Handles multi-task position, assures that systems are operating at maximum efficiency, performs customer service/meter installations/maintenance/reads and installs/maintains distribution systems.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine plant operation tasks, e.g., monitor flow.
  • Recognize and adjust out-of-specification performance, e.g., production.
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance.
  • Read, install, replace and test customer meters.
  • Perform customer service installations and repairs.
  • Perform distribution system installations and repairs.
  • Perform grounds maintenance, mowing and snow removal.
  • Assure that assigned vehicle maintenance is performed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an awareness and practice safe operating procedures in conformance with OSHA Regulations and company safety policies.
  • Perform and complete One call Line locating mark outs.
  • On Call duties one week a month.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Two years of experience in water or wastewater field operations is preferred but will train.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Have, or be able to obtain, appropriate water licenses, within one year.
  • Ability to work safely personally and around fellow employees.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
