Job Purpose

The Director Product Management, Derivatives will align the vision for the strategic derivatives platform initiative, and coordinate related business, technology and process planning and implementation.  As an agent of the Investment Team, this individual will be responsible for stakeholder alignment, setting and communicating the strategy, budget and roadmap.  Additionally, this individual will be responsible for ensuring that these plans support and integrate with our firmwide Agile planning framework, and subsequently for partnering across the firm to streamline the delivery of business value through this initiative to our investment team and our clients.  Front office, compliance and operational systems and processes are in scope.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a leader and subject matter expert for the derivatives platform initiative and be accountable for the execution of technical and process requirements.
  • In collaboration with the Investments, Operations and Technology leadership teams, build alignment amongst all stakeholders for the strategic derivatives platform and related processes. 
  • Convey the vision, value proposition and how this supports our overall firm strategy in written and presentation forum across a variety of forums.
  • Leverage deep product knowledge to identify and develop solutions for technical, process and regulatory challenges to delivering and maintaining the derivatives platform.
  • In collaboration with derivatives stakeholders and supporting teams across the firm, and considering planned technology and workflows, establish processes to support derivatives technology and business capabilities. 
  • In collaboration with the leadership teams and derivatives stakeholders, define, sequence and maintain a budget, roadmap and master implementation plan for derivatives technology and workflows.  
  • Monitor competitors, evolving investor and client needs, emerging technological, data and investment capabilities, and leverage these insights to inform platform development.
  • Enable the business and firmwide planning processes with detailed roadmaps, analysis and documentation, following Agile planning principles. Serve as product owner for one or more Agile teams focused on derivatives work.
  • Actively manage internal and external dependencies and impediments that could impact the completion or effectiveness of work.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and supporting teams to foster productive team dynamics.
  • Implement and maintain high standards of organization, prioritization, communication, and collaboration across relevant teams.
  • Motivate and guide cross-functional teams of peers towards achieving project milestones.
  • Evaluate areas for continuous improvement, evolving the implementation of best practices to scale to future needs.
  • Performs other key responsibilities, inclusive of supporting firm-wide initiatives and frameworks, as required.

Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • 12-15+ years of industry experience, including previous investment experience.
  • 6-8 years of derivatives experience, with a strong understanding of derivatives lifecycles, specifically: Credit Default Swaps (index and single name), Interest Rate Swaps, Total Return Swaps, Swaptions, Futures, Options on Futures, and other collateralized instruments. 
  • Strong foundation in asset management industry, including, but not limited to, a working understanding of the investment and investment research process.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing new capabilities through large scale, cross-divisional programs.
  • Experience with Agile planning methodologies, including Scrum.
  • Strategic and innovative mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including listening, alignment building and partnership skills: can partner with leaders at all levels across the firm as an advisor and facilitator.
  • Strong advocate of both strategic and practical matters for the Investment Leadership team.
  • Strong vision-setting, road-mapping and project management skills.
  • Effective communicator: must be willing and able to communicate individually and in a group setting with senior leaders.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
