THE ROLE

Within Investment Operations, the centralized derivatives oversight and management team collaborates with the Investment team as and when derivative instruments are traded to ensure they are correctly setup, processed, valued, and reported within the MFS operational systems. This role is responsible for the valuation of derivative holdings, the processing/co-ordination of collateral management, and reporting of positions.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Perform the set-up and accuracy of derivative reference data as well as derivative instruments across all trading, investment, accounting, and risk systems.
  • Monitor the daily valuations of derivative holdings to ensure proper valuation, providing necessary information for the collateral management process, accounting, and performance reporting.
  • Co-ordinate the collateral/margin management process across the firm and book agreed collateral movements into MFS systems. This includes cleared and over the counter derivatives, repo and TBA’s.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of collateral, margin management technology and operational processes.
  • Review reconciliations of positions and market values with counterparties to agree/disagree margin calls. Coordinate with portfolio management, trading, and operations to resolve discrepancies. Understand sub portfolio margin.
  • Provide daily review to trading & risk management of all derivative and counterparty positions & exposures.
  • Engage, develop, and manage current derivative counterparty and FCM relationships.
  • Work with MFS Operations, Compliance, and IT to implement new margin regulations as they arise.
  • Cultivate external relationships with various market participants, staying current on best practices and trends, implementing & refining best practices and processes where necessary.
  • Special projects as needed.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5-6+ years financial services experience with 3-5 years’ experience with derivatives and cash/collateral/risk management
  • A strong understanding of derivatives across rates, credit, equity, foreign exchange, commodities, repo & TBA’s required.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills to work in a collaborative, team based, process driven environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, willing to identify and take on unstructured problems, identify viable solutions and execute.
