Position Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Science Project Manager to join our team. This pivotal role is dedicated to managing scaled research data science engagements across all 13 of our labs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Labs, the individual in this role will interface with key leaders and teams, overseeing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.

  • Project Management: Lead and manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate with senior leadership and other stakeholders, providing updates, reports, and ensuring alignment on project deliverables and expectations.
  • Resource Management: Allocate and manage resources efficiently to ensure project success, including team members, budgets, and external vendors.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity and success. 5. Change Management: Facilitate the adoption of new processes and technologies across the organization, supporting teams through transitions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on project performance, using appropriate tools and techniques to ensure progress and address any issues promptly.
  • Technology Deployment Management: Coordinate and manage technology deployments supplied by vendors when systems are not supplied by HBS Information Technology, ensuring seamless integration and operation within our existing infrastructure.
  • Process Improvement: Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • This role is responsible for other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-5 years data science experience technology, academic or professional
  • 1-3 years project management experience, in technology environment

Additional/Desired Qualifications:
  • Master’s in data science, Computer Science or another quantitative field is preferred
  • Experience managing technology deployments from external vendors
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with cloud deployments and ecosystem management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of research and data science concepts

Certificates and Licenses

  • AWS Foundational/Professional certifications.

Additional Information

This position is approved for a 3-year term (with possibility of renewal/extension) which begins on the person's first day of employment.

This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday – Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.
