The Lead Title Clerk manages the team of Tag and Title Associates and prepares legal transfer documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles, verifies and enters any fees assigned to a vehicle.    

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

  • Coaching and mentoring team members
  • Preparing tag and title documents
  • Submitting all legal transfer documents to the DMV
  • Preparing checks to reimburse Buyers for any DMV fees
  • Inputting title information into the auction software for sold cars
  • Determining outstanding fees owed through looking up Vehicle Information Number (VIN) in state DMV system.
  • Preparing and maintaining vehicle jackets.
  • Keeping titles secured until customers come in to retrieve them
  • Preparing express shipments or registered mail and shipping titles to customers who have paid for their vehicle
  • Administering and supervising all title processing for auction transactions
  • Preparing late title reports for the General Manager
  • Create title report and amounts owed for flooring companies
  • Monitoring and ordering supplies (i.e. checks and odometer forms)
  • Keeping current with applicable state laws
  • Monitoring and keeping current with Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) laws and regulations

 
What are the requirements for this job?

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in a dealership position is preferred.
  • Previous tag and title experience is preferred,
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of title & DMV laws and regulations required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Experience with DMV and/or Auction Edge/ASI auction systems a plus
