Job Description:

The Accounting Technician is an integral part of the Patient Financial Service Department's at the Oregon State Hospital (OSH). This office delivers essential fiscal and patient banking services to the hospital. The primary responsibility of this role is managing the Revolving Fund desk, which encompasses a variety of tasks including acting as the Petty Cash custodian, overseeing receipting duties, processing reimbursements, handling cash drawers, and managing daily Trust folder tasks.

You will perform financial reporting and auditing!

Your will clarify and resolve issues related to posting of payments!

You will communicatee with clients, stake holders, payers, and auditors!

You will assist in creating the accounts receivable process and procedures!

You will perform accounts receivable (A/R) data management including data review!

You will bill payer sources, and post payments and revenue using applicable codes!

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Required Qualifications:

  • Two years of technical support accounting experience. One year of the experience must include the calculation, recording, and maintenance of routine accounting information;

OR

  • at least 36 quarter (24 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 9 quarter (6 semester) hours in accounting. (To receive credit for required courses, submit a photocopy of transcripts.)
  • Training or experience must include using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.

Requested Attributes:

  • Experience in creating and maintaining a work environment that is respectful and accepting of diversity among team members and the people we serve.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in health care related fields, are able to demonstrate research and analytical skills, and is expected to be the subject matter expert in the respective fields of revenue cycle operations.
  • Skill operating a computer terminal or microcomputer to enter, update, or retrieve information.
  • Proficient math, and basic knowledge of bookkeeping principles, methods, and procedures.
  • Skill calculating percentages, ratios, discounts, etc.
  • Skill using a calculator or a 10-key adding machine.
  • Skill recording, processing, or compiling accounting or monetary information.
  • Proficiency in interpreting/implementing regulatory standards and following operations manuals.
  • Skill communicating, either verbally or in writing, to gather or exchange information.
  • Basic Microsoft Word and Excel experience
  • Basic knowledge of office procedures, equipment, and machines.
